About

Project Red is a student-led organization with the goal to provide aid throughout every step of crisis recovery through emotional or physical support. By increasing awareness and interest in community service, we plan on guiding students in Austin to lead service projects that help local communities and assist with financial resources, guidance, and volunteers.

The Challenge

Within our schools and communities, there exists a significant number of "hidden homeless" children - young individuals who have undergone a sudden and catastrophic life change, experienced trauma, or faced various challenges.

The Solution

Project First-Aid

Why

The lack of access to hygiene facilities and products among the homeless population poses significant health risks to individuals living in poverty in our community, potentially increasing the likelihood of disease transmission.

Within our schools and communities, there exists a significant number of "hidden homeless" children - young individuals who have undergone a sudden and catastrophic life change, experienced trauma, or faced various challenges.

For Who

The Project First-Aid initiative aims to provide assistance to low-income communities with limited access to healthcare and hygiene products, particularly those that have been impacted by recent disaster events, such as apartment fires or floods.

How We Did It

Through generous donations and fundraising efforts, we were able to manufacture first-aid kits and distribute them firsthand throughout Austin.

The Results

Thanks to the generosity and support of our local community, we were able to raise thousands of dollars through various fundraising initiatives, donations, and shoutouts. With these funds, we were able to produce hundreds of first-aid/hygiene kits and in collaboration with the Salvation Army, effectively distribute them to individuals in need.

Past Projects

Can kids volunteer?

Yes! We support young individuals and anyone else who wants to make a difference in their community to volunteer with us!

What is Project Red currently doing?

Having just finished a successful food and essential items drive, we are now working on organizing and distributing these items to our target communities.

Do I get volunteering hours for this?

Yes! Volunteering with a non-profit such as Project Red will give volunteer hours that you can use for your school or personal needs.  When you fill out our volunteer interest form, you will receive an invitation to each of our volunteer opportunities when they arise.

What has Project Red done in the past?

We collected funds to support the manufacturing of custom first-aid kits, which were specific to the disaster, time, and location.

Can I implement my own service project?

Yes! If you have an ongoing service project or an idea for one, we would be happy to work with you! We will set you up with resources, build your networking, and provide assistance to aid in your project.
